There are several opportunities for involvement in our musical program. I hope you will take time to look over the various choirs and to pray about where you would like to participate. Chancel Choir We would love to have you in our choir!
There is always room for more singers in the house of God. Our choir sings a wide variety of musical styles including classical, spirituals, gospel and worship songs. They lead worship at the Sunday Morning Worship Service from September through May. Membership is open to youth through adult. New members are always welcome and encouraged to join our team at anytime. No audition is required. Music reading skills may be helpful but are not necessary. Study tapes are provided if needed. The Chancel Choir is led by Meredith Mizell. They meet on Wednesdays from 7:30 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. in the main sanctuary. Rehearsals will begin again in September.
Westminster Ringers Our adult handbell choir plays music for worship services at least once every two months. They attend handbell festivals and perform outside the church for special events - especially at Christmas. They have achieved a high level of performance ability. Contact the director for openings. Reading music & rhythms is a requirement, but previous handbell experience is not. There are “Bells in Training” workshops held as the need arises for those wishing to learn to play handbells. A commitment to be at rehearsals is very important to the other ringers. They meet every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the main sanctuary from September through May. They are led by Meredith Mizell.
First Pres Praise Team Our praise team is open to 7th grade through adult with opportunities for singers & instrumentalists to use their talent in worship services and community events. They lead praise music once or twice a month for our Sunday Morning Worship Service. New members are always welcome. Their practice times vary every week. Vocal & Instrumental Soloists Soloists provide Special Music for our Worship Service on a regular basis, especially during the Chancel Choir’s summer vacation time. Volunteers and guests are always welcome and do not need to be a member of a choir to participate. All ages are welcome. There is a sign-up sheet for participation on the bulletin board by the coffee.
Men’s Choir - Our Men’s Choir meets occasionally throughout the year to lead us in special music. They perform a variety of music from contemporary to classical. Tapes of your part are made available. Rehearsals are always a jovial working time. They traditionally lead worship on the Sunday morning of the Women’s Retreat. They have been led by various men in our congregation. Please consider joining them when the opportunity arises.
Women’s Choir - Our Women’s Choir also meets occasionally throughout the year to sing special music. They sing for the Sunday morning worship service at the Women’s Retreat and during the summer when the Chancel Choir is on break. Please consider joining them when the opportunity arises.
Reader’s Choir Our Reader’s Choir works from dramatic scripts to enrich worship services as well as special programs throughout the year with their speaking voices. They meet on a “need-to” basis and membership is open to anyone interested.
